The Allen-Bradley 1756-IG16 is a digital input module with 16 inputs accommodated in 2 groups of 8. The input module operates at a voltage of between 4.5 and 5.5 Volts DC. The 1756-IG16 accepts connections through the 1756-TBSH and the 1756-TBNH adjustable terminal blocks. The 1756-IG16 features 5 Volts DC TTL source voltage which recognizes a low voltage as a true voltage. At a voltage of 5.1 Volts, the digital input module has a current rating of 110 mA. The 1756-IG16 digital input module has a power dissipation rating of 1.4 watts at a temperature of 60 degrees Celsius, a thermal dissipation rating of 4.8 BTU per hour at 60 degrees Celsius, and a maximum input impedance of 1.5 kiloohms. Additionally, the 1756-IG16 has a 2 Volts maximum off-state voltage, 4.1 mA off-state current, and a maximum input current of 4.1 mA at 5 Volts DC. The normal current for the 1756-IG16 is rated at 3.7 mA at a voltage of 5 Volts DC. For 750 milliseconds, the 1756-IG16 has a cyclic update time of 200 microseconds.
The 1756-IG16 digital input module with 16 inputs has a continuous voltage isolation between the inputs and backplane and between input groups of 250 Volts. The module is rack-mountable and it occupies a single slot in the I/O chassis. When wiring the 1756-IG16, a solid or stranded copper wire can be used, provided it has a size of 14 AWG and can withstand a minimum temperature of 90 degrees Celsius. The wire insulation should be 3/64 inches. The 1756-IG16 is UL, CSA, CE, C-Tick, and EX certified. When in operation, the 1756-IG16 can accommodate a vibration of 2G at a frequency of between 10 and 500 hertz and a shock of 30 G. the 1756-IG16 operates optimally in an industrial setting with a non-condensing humidity of between 5 and 95% and a temperature not exceeding 60 degrees Celsius and not below 0 degrees Celsius.
