You can also use an optional nonvolatile memory for it, although you can only use the 64 MB (1784-CF64) or 128 MB CompactFlash memory cards (the 1784-CF128). It also has a 1 port RS-132 serial built-in communication port. The ControlLogix chassis compatible with this controller are 1756-A4LXT, 1756-A5XT, 1756-A7LXT, and the 1756-A7XT.

The 1756-L63XT has a maximum digital I/O and total I/O of 128,000 each and a maximum analog I/O of 4000.
